لە ١٢ی دیسەمبەر، دکتۆرە خانزاد ئەحمەد، ئەمینداری گشتی ئەنجوومەنی باڵایی خانمان و گەشەپێدان سەرەدانی ئۆفیسی ئاژ کرد بۆ تۆمارکردنی پۆدکاستێک لە چوارچێوەی زنجیرەی (یونایت- یەکبگرن) سەبارەت بە هەڵمەتی ١٦ ڕۆژی بەرەنگاربوونەوەی توندوتیژی دژ بە ژنان لەگەڵ بنار هشیار ڕۆژنامەڤان وبەڕێوەبەری هەرێمی ڕێکخراوی ئاژ لە ستۆدیۆی مەکانەتی لە هەولێر.
لەم پۆدکاستەدا، باسی ستراتیژی نوێ کارکردن وبەڕێوەبردنی ئەنجوومەنی باڵایی خانمان وگەشەپێدان لەژێر چەتری حکومەتی هەرێمی کوردستان کرا. لەگەڵ خستنەڕووی بەشەکانی ئەنجوومەن وەکو توێژینەوە، جێندەر، گەشەپێدان و باسکردنی چۆنیەتی کار و ئەرکەکانی هەر یەک لەم بەشانە کرا. هەروەها دکتۆرە خانزاد باس لە چەند پرۆژەیە یاسایێکی نوێ کرد کە خەریکن کاری لەسەر دەکەن لەپاڵ ئەپلیکەشنێک کە تایبەت دەبن بە ژن و بەرەنگاربوونەوەی توند وتیژی.

On the 7th of December, Ms. Aya Sarchil, Head of development at the High Council for Women and Development (HCWD) in KRG and Mr. Lionel Laforgue, Gender and Human Rights Program Coordinator at UNFPA Iraq, visited Makanati Studio in AHJ’s office in Erbil to record an episode with Mariam Jenan and Sahar Moukaddem around the 16 days of activism against Gender Based Violence (GBV) campaign.
In this episode Aya and Lionel discussed HCWD’s and UNFPA’s activities within the framework of this campaign. They talked about the efforts of each of their departments in preventing violence against women and also tackled the challenges they face when it comes to ending GBV in Kurdistan. In addition, they highlighted the importance of this year’s theme “Unite” and the need to have multi-sectoral coordinated actions between all the society’s entities to drive a sustainable change when it comes to GBV. The issues of positive masculinity, behavior’s change, the nuclear family’s role and the society’s role in preventing GBV have also been raised during the discussion.
On the 18th of December, Ms. Michelle Kemanzi, Human rights officer at UNAMI, visited Makanati studio in AHJ’s office in Erbil to record an episode with Sahar Moukaddem and Soma Farhang around the 16 days of activism against gender based violence.
In this episode, Michelle introduces to us UNAMI’s work in promoting gender equality and their strategic plans in accelerating the progress in ending GBV in KRI and Iraq. Moreover, having more than 14 years working in Human rights in conflict zones, Michelle points out the impact of political conflict and disputes on Women’s rights and gender equality. She uncovers why we need women to have long-term peace. In addition, Michelle discusses with Soma and Sahar the role of social media in promoting women’s rights and sheds the lights on the different initiatives UNAMI are doing in order enhance the media’s approach to gender equality in Iraq.
An intriguing episode that ends with Michelle, Soma and Sahar telling us what first sparked their interests in women’s rights and gender equality.
On the 13th of December, Ms. Sivar Ahmed, Head of Relations at the High Council for Women and Development (HCWD) in KRG visited Makanati studio in AHJ’s office in Erbil to record an episode with Sahar Moukaddem around the 16 days of activism against gender based violence.
In a friendly discussion, Sivar takes us into her day to day work where she talks about her own experience working with the government after finishing her master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy at the international institute in Geneva. She points out the challenges that women face working in the public sphere in KRI and indicates how HCWD adapts gender equality inside their own departments. Moreover, she discusses why is it crucial to open the conversation for women and to include them in political debates.
At the end of the episode Sivar and Sahar, uncover another layer of the word “Unite”, by shedding the light on the importance of unity between women and men, old and young generations to ensure the elimination of Gender based violence.
